The reason why that SPAWN $300 sale didn't show up in GPA was because it was a CBCS book. GPA doesn't include CBCS in their numbers.

If CovrPrice is consistently 20% higher than FMV, like you say, then all they need to do is tack on a *0.80 to the end of their algorithm. Problem solved.

At 17:01 Bry; I don’t know where they get their data. I doubt you do either. So to say that book hasn’t EVER sold for that price is not exactly accurate. As good as GPA is (I used it all the time), it isn’t the gospel. Example. The latest Punisher Limited 9.8 Direct is currently $690 Heritage sale. I bought that book over at Metropolis Comics for $446. Things aren’t always what they seem. Also, GPA doesn’t get your sales data, or ShortBoxed or MySlabs or countless FB, WhatNot, etc sales data. Critical thinking like you said needs to be used. Be willing to see that it doesn’t always mean something is cheaper…items could be going up as well.

My issue with you being nonchalant about disregarding the $288 sale of the Spawn 180 is that if this sort of data was all you had to price a golden age comic you were selling in your store you’d utilize it as the “new “ norm. Then you’d state that a lot of auction houses are places people can get a’deal’ thus the price ‘could’ be even higher. The reason you’re dismissing this Spawn is because it’s a modern book with no significant first appearance or variant copy with a significant low print run. Although this issue was probably no more than like 22k copies but that’s isn’t the point. My point is, I believe the seller has a better argument that this ‘could’ be higher than the $90 you are so quick to state a 9.8 slab would sell for. Yes, the book probably isn’t a $288 consistent seller, but to drop it to $90 just because of a sale in ‘21 isn’t fair either.

I think this tool needs better data as much if not more than better pricing logic. AI hallucinates so much I'm not sure it can be what everyone hopes. Better logic can be programmed into a pricing tool though. You might call that "AI" but these days AI is language-learning and that ends up in pretty weird places a LLOTT. Better data and deeper more logical programming - that is not a moon shot.

This might be a small group issue, but I find at the conventions, prices are very consistent around the booths. Every now and then some joker spikes a price.... well. We know how that goes.

I have also found a lot of times they pull a slab sale from eBay and list it under the Raw sales list and vice versa as well as pulling sets/runs and counting that as a sale for a single issue. Each time, I've reached out either via email or Instagram to give them the info and within a short time the data is corrected.

I literally canceled my CovrPrice membership two days ago.

Yeah I love a lot of features on Covrprice but the the price listings are so off. I wish they would do better on it and the website would be really good.

Agreed. Covrprice's interface is great but yes the pricing is just so unreliable. The reality is that books are only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. I will say that Covrprice does a better job at being more conservative with assigning comics as "keys" vs. Key Collector which is more lenient with assigning key classifications.

I use both, covrprice for raw and go collect for slabs. Covrprice definitely lacks in slab pricing

I hate it when CovrPrice has no sales data on say a 2.0 they will put the price of the 5.0. Or if no sales, goes for $0. They definatly need to do something.

So is GPA the best tool for valuation of graded and raw books? I’d love to get a value for my raws but I don’t wanna just scroll through eBay sold
